Tokyo 2018: GFSI Conference in Japan - the country of technological advance

Taking this image as the theme, the IFS Team decided to focus on the different digital IFS Tools this year.

Together with Nevin Rühle, Bruno Séchet, and Stephan Tromp, I had the pleasure to participate in one of the most important conferences for the food industry: The annual GFSI conference. In an exciting team building effort we set up the IFS booth in which we welcomed visitors from all over the world. During the three conference days we had so many inspiring conversations, got useful feedback and new inspiration for the future development of IFS Tools.

Besides the well-known IFS Database we presented the updated IFS App in a 15 minutes Tech-talk and introduced the IFS Trend Risk Monitor at the IFS Booth. On all conference days visitors got the chance to have a look at our newest tool. The feedback we got was overwhelming. We have created a tool which fulfills the needs of IFS Users and reduces their workload at the same time: The IFS Trend Risk Monitor was developed to enable quality managers and consultants to effectively scan the relevant market with the aim to detect possible risks and define preventive actions. Therefore the tool has a high degree of individualization: filter by product scopes and/or interest can be done easily, RSS-Feeds can be added and relevant news can be chosen. And the best thing: the continuously improved features based on public sources are included in the regular IFS Audit upload fee of 250 €.

For me the most exciting moment took 15 minutes when Stephan Tromp and I presented the IFS App with its newest features. In an interactive way we showcased how quality managers can integrate this tool in their daily work.

Briefly, we explained how to take notes of findings, share them with the responsible persons and add these to IFS App tasks or desktop calendars. Herewith we pointed out that the app is not only relevant for IFS Users, but also for quality managers of non IFS certified companies.

Especially persons interested in IFS can benefit from further supportive features such as the always up-to-date checklist and the possibility to add any finding directly to the respective IFS Requirement.

You did not have the chance to participate in the conference? Check the video of the presentation of the Tech-Talk here: https://youtu.be/dby59HvYa8s

In general the trip to Tokyo was from a personal and business perspective a great possibility and I am already looking forward to the next GFSI conference in Nice in 2019.
