How IFS supports Grupo Bimbo in contributing to feeding a better world

Many companies trust IFS. Alejandro Nacim Atisha Awad, the National Quality Director at Ideal S.A. Grupo Bimbo in Chile, shares why his company chose IFS to strengthen its food safety and quality management and develop its suppliers. It fits Ideal's commitment to "contribute our grain of flour to feed a better world."

Ideal in Chile belongs to Grupo Bimbo, the largest bakery company in the world. It has three production plants in Chile.

"At Ideal, we are committed to excellence in quality and food safety. For this reason, we decided to use IFS Progress Food to develop our suppliers and guarantee the best food on the tables of all Chileans," he says. "This development program, allows us to establish a closer and more collaborative relationship with our suppliers, identify areas for improvement, and offer support to encourage continuous improvement in their processes and strengthen our supply chain", Alejandro continues.

Ideal also works with the IFS Food Standard. "We chose IFS Food certification in our bakeries, because it emphasises risk management, helping us identify and prevent potential hazards. This ensures the safety and quality of our products meet the highest international standards and strengthens the confidence of our customers," Alejandro explains.

He continues, "The gradual qualification approach of IFS aligns with our vision that sustainable changes in quality and safety culture happen progressively. This approach encourages our employees to embody our philosophy of 'Building a sustainable, highly productive, and fully human company."

Alejandro also tells us that he will rely on IFS Progress Logistics: "We are building on this development program for our Distribution Centres and Sales Centres to integrate these external operations more efficiently into our quality model."

We thank Alejandro for his positive feedback on our IFS Standards and Programs. We are pleased that the IFS Progress Programs foster collaboration with suppliers and that the IFS Food Standard helps Ideal ensure product safety and quality, boosting customer confidence. Furthermore, we at IFS are proud to support the company's commitment to "contributing its grain of flour to feed a better world."
