IFS Broker is the standard for auditing the service compliance of brokers, sales representatives, traders and importers of food, household and personal care products or packaging materials. An IFS Broker audit assesses whether the intermediary has implemented suitable processes. These processes must ensure that the products of its suppliers comply with the legal regulations and the product specifications of its customers.
Brand owners and retailers worldwide consider IFS Broker certified companies as some of the most respected companies in the industry. Qualified IFS Auditors working for independent accredited certification bodies carry out the audits. Read more about accreditation and recognition of the IFS Broker Standard here.

Approved IFS Certification Bodies (CBs) provide auditing services to companies seeking IFS Certification. Their IFS Auditors perform certification audits.
We firmly believe that solid auditor competence is the basis for the IFS Standards' credibility and reliability. All IFS Auditors must meet specific requirements, pass the relevant IFS Exam, and participate in an IFS Calibration Training every two years. This way, we ensure that IFS Auditors worldwide assess companies in a consistent manner.
Today, we published updated versions of the doctrines for IFS Food 8, IFS Logistics 3, IFS Broker 3.2 and IFS PACsecure 3. These doctrines are essential normative documents for certified companies, auditors, certification bodies, and other stakeholders. They answer frequently asked technical questions and clarify specific requirements.
The updated doctrines include errata and clarifications of specific requirements, such as extraordinary information that must be provided to the certification body, as well as requirements related to exceptional circumstances. In addition, the Food and Product Safety Culture definition has been clarified and includes further elements that suppliers need to consider.
These updates were necessary to comply with the 2024 GFSI Benchmarking Requirements and to prepare our recognition application. During this recognition process, the doctrines - as normative documents supplementing the standards - will be considered. Accordingly, publishing new versions of the standard is not required. This reduces the administrative burden for all stakeholders and supports the continuity of certification.
Stakeholders are encouraged to review the updated doctrines thoroughly. Currently, these documents are only accessible in English.
