Since 2003 the IFS is well known for the IFS Food Standard. Since then the umbrella brand of IFS has increased with more than 6 Standards and 3 Programs which cover a huge part of the retail supply chain. One of these IFS Standards is the IFS HPC, the Standard developed to assure the quality and product safety of household and personal care products. First published in 2009, updated in 2016 and supplemented by an IFS Global Markets Program, the number of certificates increases continuously.
Over the last months, the IFS HPC Standard Manager, Helga Barrios, traveled to different countries to support IFS users. One of the main markets visited was China.
China represents one of the key countries for manufacturing non-food goods with a high export rate to European countries.
These were some of the activities performed in China:
Organization of the first IFS HPC Working group with certification bodies, retailers and industry representatives in Shanghai (19/06): The goal is to build up a platform to support stakeholders in the frame of the IFS Household and Personal Care Standard in the Chinese market.
|First IFS Global Markets - HPC Assessors Course performed (20/06) with 7 participants from different CBs in Shanghai.
Thanks to this training these Assessors are now allowed to start assessing HPC companies.
Participation in the 4th Summit on Cosmetics regulation Asia Pacific region in Hangzhou (22/06):
IFS was glad to be invited to give a presentation to the Chinese cosmetics suppliers. It was a pleasure to present and to discuss the idea of IFS HPC and IFS Global Markets - HPC with over 150 participants.
...and last but not least...
Supplier day 25/06: Introducing the IFS Standard and Program to 20 HPC suppliers for the first time in Shanghai
The feedback was positively overwhelming. And therefore we are already organizing the first courses to qualify auditors in 2019.
