The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has approved IFS PACsecure accreditation for the first certification body. On June 26, 2014, the ANSI Accreditation Committee voted to approve initial accreditation to ISO/IEC 17065 for SAI Global Certification Services Pty Ltd for the scope of IFS PACsecure. The certification firm can now perform IFS PACsecure audits under accreditation in North America. For the IFS Logistics Standard NSF International is the first North American certification body to be accredited by ANSI.
In Europe the accreditation program is currently under development. As soon as available, certification bodies based in Europe may also apply at their home accreditation body.
Accreditation demonstrates independence of certification and a high level of technical competence. The accreditation under ISO/IEC 17065 indicates the IFS PACsecure being focused on product and process certification and beyond the requirements of a system certification. The IFS PACsecure certification is widely accepted and partly required by the food industry and retail.
