Dear Auditors,

We are pleased to announce the release of IFS Broker version 3.2. This newsletter summarises the main changes in the new sub-version and details regarding accreditation and auditor qualification.

The new IFS Broker version 3.2

As many IFS audits are combined audits with other IFS Standards, it was essential for us to align version 3.2 with the other updated IFS Standards, especially IFS Food 8 and IFS Logistics 3. The revisions will significantly facilitate the performance of combined IFS Audits.

The most significant modification concerns the scoring system. Following the other IFS Standards, the B-score is now a deviation again, requiring a correction or corrective action by the audited company. In IFS Broker 3.2, we also introduce the star status, signalling that the audit was unannounced.

In particular, the new definition of the B-score creates more clarity for the auditors and the audited companies. Both major updates contribute to greater transparency for everyone involved. The company’s stakeholders will quickly recognise how the audit was carried out. Furthermore, the report shows which deviation led to the B-score and the action plan specifies what the audited company needs to do to correct it.

What you should know about the updates in IFS Broker 3.2

Scoring System

The B-score is now classified as a deviation again. Defining a correction or corrective action after finding a deviation is more apparent to all parties involved. Our brochure, “The IFS Scoring System - Driving Continuous Improvement, version 2.3”, explains it in more detail.

IFS Star Status

We introduce the IFS Star Status to indicate that the audit was unannounced. A star will become visible in the IFS Database. The IFS Certificate and report will become a new star logo for IFS Broker. To issue the certificate and report, you can use the logos provided in the IFS Software and Database.

For announced audits, the regular IFS Broker logo applies.

Application timelines and upcoming doctrine

IFS Broker version 3.2 audits will become mandatory from 1 July 2024.

We are working on a doctrine for version 3.2 with clarifications on the timelines for applying the new sub-version and specific requirements. As a normative document, the doctrine is an integral part of the corresponding standard version. We will inform you when the document becomes available.

Accreditation

The accreditation process for IFS Broker version 3.2 is in progress with the International Accreditation Forum (IAF). We have also applied for GFSI recognition.

Conversion of auditors

Auditors approved for IFS Broker 3.1 in combination with either Food 8, Logistics 3, PACsecure 3 or HPC 3 are automatically authorised to perform audits against IFS Broker 3.2, as they already have familiarised themselves with the updated scoring system.
