IFS and FSMA
The main regulations are the Preventative Controls for Human Food (PCHF), the Sanitary Transportation Act and the Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP).
For IFS certified companies, by fulfilment of the Standards requirements, most of the FSMA requirements are already covered. Companies having an active IFS certificate are already in a good shape and just need to fill some gaps between IFS requirements and FSMA.
Together with Melanie Neumann, Neumann Risk Services LL, IFS analyzed the FSMA requirements and similarities with IFS requirements.Outcome and related explanations can be downloaded for free on the right menu side.
Moreover, IFS as third party certification scheme offers the possibility that FSMA relevant information can be checked during an IFS audit and related findings can be added into the IFS audit report.
FSMA and the IFS Audit report
Since June, IFS users have the chance to integrate the notice of their successful implementation of the FDA FSMA requirements into the IFS Audit report and a hint in the IFS Database.
If you - as an IFS certified company - would like to use this option, the certification body responsible for your IFS certification needs to be informed in advance of your upcoming audit to be able to ensure a competent auditor is available and scheduled for the audit.
By writing the audit report the certification body should include this information in the designated box. All entitled database user get the possibility to access this information.
