IFS Certification has Significant Impact on Food Recalls

IFS Certification has Significant Impact on Food Recalls
Companies Using IFS Reduced Recalls by up to 17%

Berlin, Germany/St. Louis, USA – August 9, 2010 – International Featured Standards (IFS) recently conducted a study performed by the University of Rostock in Rostock, Germany to determine the success of food processing companies achieving IFS certification. The results provided an interesting look into the key measures of food safety and quality from the eyes of the Supplier.

A few of the statistics derived from the survey included:

  • Up to a 17% reduction in Food Recalls
  • Company complaints related to food safety and quality were reduced up to 27%
  • Regulatory issues within food processors saw as much as a 51% reduction
  • The error rate fell up to 40%

"These are dramatic results we are seeing in companies who have chosen IFS as their Food Safety and Quality Standard," said Stephan Tromp, Managing Director of the IFS. "As we continue to expand the IFS brand globally, retailers and their suppliers can have added confidence in the products we offer and the high level of integrity upon which the Standards are developed."

The results of the IFS instigated Rostock Survey confirm that companies choosing IFS as their food safety certification see an improvement in many areas of their processing and ultimately the company’s bottom line.

Inquiries about the IFS Rostock Study or IFS in general should be directed at the current time to either:

George Gansner (St. Louis, MO USA) or Nina Lehmann (Berlin, Germany)
